Opportunity for Service
Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries offers a way for all to participate in one of the spiritual disciplines – that of service. As the cross is the sign of submission, so the towel is the sign of service. At the Last Supper Jesus took a towel and basin and redefined greatness by washing the feet of his disciples. Having lived out servanthood before them, he called them to the way of service: “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed
your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.” (John 13:14, 15)
SMARM provides a meaningful way to answer that call. It offers various opportunities for service by volunteers who help in its office, in its thrift stores, in the operation of its special fund raising events throughout the year, and in its weekly meal and annual winter coat ministries.
Opportunities are available for as little as an occasional few hours up to a day or two per week. No special skills are required and your service will mean something to the disadvantaged of this county and will be a personal blessing for you to have followed our Master’s call to service.
