A Note From the Chairman

"Nevertheless..."
Revelation 2:19 sets out a word from Jesus Christ to the church in Thyatira as follows:

"I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did
at first. Nevertheless..."

Jesus then goes on to tell of the failures of the people of Thyatira.

As I think about SMARM and our ministries, I can imagine Jesus Christ telling those of us who serve on the SMARM board, or who serve as volunteers for SMARM, and those who donate to SMARM, "I know your deeds and see your love for the poor and needy and unfortunate of Sevier County.  I know you are serving more people than you did a few years ago and meeting more needs. I know you are making a difference in Sevier County... NEVERTHELESS, you can do more. You can  make a powerful difference for the people of Sevier County and you can make an eternal difference."

"Jesus would probably add, "Persevere and keep loving people even as the economy worsens, even as the number of homeless increase, even as hurricane victims or veterans are denied benefits or people suffer misfortune.  To all you who help others through SMARM, hear what the Spirit says - serve others, love others, help others, and I am always with you."

Let's commit ourselves to the challenge of our Savior.
SMARM has made a good start in Sevier County...NEVERTHELESS.
